Day 01 / : Early morning transfer for flight to Leh. Arrival and transfer to Hotel / guest House. Afternoon free.
Day 02 / : Full day Sightseeing of Shey, Thikse and Hemis monasteries by jeep.
Day 03 : Leh to serchu by jeep drive of 230 km, 9 to 10 hrs drive. Camp at Serchu.
Day 4: Sarchu Bridge/Campsite-Lingti Ground(4300M)...7 to 8 hours
This is the easy part: you walk along the river bed and pass through pastures. As the valley widens, a few shepherds huts on the left can be seen. There is sand all around. Continue, and after crossing 2 canyons, camp near the spring.
Day 5: Lingti Ground- Khamerup- Phirtse-La (4500M)...7 to 8 hours
Today cross four canyons and after 2-3 hours cross a broad river and climb to a plateau till you reach a river, which comes from Chumickmarpho (4650M). About one hour's trek from Shepherds' huts, continue upstream, on left bank. The base camp for Phirtse-la is close by.
Day 6: Campsite- Phirtse-La(5450M)...7 to 8 hours
Phirtse-la (the highest pass on the whole trek) is reached in 4 hours. Follow path to the river. Another 2 hours of trek, reach campsite for night halt, around 100 m above the river with beautiful landscape. You are on the western slope.
Day 7: Campsite- Tanza (4000M)... 5 to 5 1/2 hours
Breathtaking view of Zanskar valley in front. By passing behind a rocky bridge follow steep gorge, cross a stream. Arrive in Tanza, the meeting point of Route 2 (via Shingo-la). Tanza is a small village with a gompa in ruins.
Day 8: Tanza- Purne (3650M)...5 to 6 hours
Arrive at Kuru, a major village of livestock breeders. Descending for about 2 1/2 hours arrive at beautiful village, Teta. The trail continues downwards upto river. From the left bank ascend the gentle slope upto Jal. Reach Purne, for overnight camp.
Day 9: Purne-Phuktal Gompa- Purne ... 4 hours (Optional)
From Purne, reach the Phuktal monastery. The monastery is like a honeycomb, cut into a rock under a gignantic grotto. The library, prayer rooms, kitchens, abbot's chamber, chorten and the grave of Gangsem Sherap Sampo, who founded Phuktal, Likir and Ringdom gompas, are all worth-seeing.
Day 10: Purne-Ichar...5 to 6 hours
Go to Char village. After 2 hours is Kaydang - a village full of poplar groves. Passing Hamuni and Surle villages, the trail is rough and difficult for horses. After crossing a large village, arrive at Ichar for overnight stay.
Day 11 : Ichar- Mone... 5 to 6 hours
Re-cross over the left bank of Tsarap river, climb before crossing a major tributary bridge, now go on descending towards Reru and after crossing a plain with wild flowers (flowering in July-August), arrive at Mone.
Day 12: Mone- Padam (36550M)... 5 to 6 hours
From the monastery which is on a steep hill behind the town is a route leading to the left to the 6150-la Pass, the highest and most difficult pass in Zanskar. It involves crossing a glacier. Cross Tema and reach Charmoche Kore Camping ground. Other stops are Padam, Bardan Gompa, Kagyupa monastery.
Day 13 : PADUM-KARSHA
After breakfast start yur first day�s trek Karsha (3610m � 07 kms/04 hrs) crossing the Doda river. A 15th century Gelumpa Monastery (popularly known as Karsha Gompa dominates the scene. Arrive Karsha & camp.
Day 14 : KARSHA-PISHU
After breakfast, start trekking to Pishu (3665m � 13 kms) along the river Zanskar. Enroute visit Thonda Gompa. Arrive and camp for overnight stay.
Day 15 : PISHU-HANUMIL
Morning start trekking to Hanumil (3690m-14 kms) through Pidmu after continuing to the left bank of river Zanskar. Arrive and camp for overnight.
Day 16 : HANUMIL-PURFI LA-SNERTSE
After breakfast start trekking to reach Snertse (3745m-15kms) after crossing a steep and difficult climb to the Pass, Purfi La (3900m). From the pass it is a steep descent upon Oma Chu river and from there it about 1 kms climb upto a wonderful campsite, Snertse Arrive Snertse and establish camp for overnight.
Day 17 : SNERTSE-HANUMA LA-LINGSHET
Trek 14 kms to Lingshet (3800m) after crossing Hanuma La (4700 m). Arrive and camp.
Day 18 : LINGSHET-SINGI LA-MARLING
Trek 16 kms to reach Marling (3825m) after crossing Singi La (5230m). Singi La means the Lion�s Pass which is also the highest pass of this trek. First the climb is trhough terminal moraine and then through the long glacier. The climb is not stee but the descent through the steep glacier is a bit difficult. Arrive Marling and camp.
Day 19 : MARLING-BOUMITSE LA-PHOTOSKAR
Trek 11 kms to reach Photoskar after crossing Boumitse La (4200m). Photoskar village is a town of clusters of houses, green fields and a gompa. Arrive and camp.
Day 20 : PHOTOSKAR-SIRSIRLA-HANUPATTA
Trek 12 kms to Hanupatta (3770m) after crossing Sirisir la (4230m).Arrive and camp.
Day 21 : HANUPATTA-WANLA
Trek 22 kms to Wanla (3645m). Arrive Wanla and establish camp for overnight.
Day 23 : WANLA-LAMAYURU
Trek 12 kms to Lamayuru (3510 m). Arrive and camp for overnight stay.
Day 24 : LAMAYURU-LEH
After breakfast drive 120 kms to Leh and checkin at your prebooked hotel.
Day 25 : LEH.
Full day city tour of Leh covering Hemis, Shey & Thiksey monasteries.
